Institute for Advanced Pastoral Studies

Inner Change - Outer Growth

By joining the Institute for Advanced Pastoral Studies, you invest in your ability to be a resilient faith leader in Metro Detroit & Metro Atlanta.

Funded by grants from the Lilly Endowment and Trinity Church Wall Street the Institute for Advanced Pastoral Studies (IAPS) equips clergy and community leaders with adaptive leadership skills to meet the challenges and opportunities of ministry today. Through a ten-month, fully funded program, participants engage in rich learning, collaboration, and reflection across personal, congregational, and civic dimensions of leadership. Deliberately ecumenical and committed to diversity and inclusion, IAPS fosters the development of leaders dedicated to building the Beloved Community. The purpose of IAPS is to foster pastoral leadership, nurture collaborative networks, and provide the spiritual grounding needed to guide congregations faithfully and effectively in today’s complex world.

  • The IAPS Cohort impacted me profoundly. The focus on adaptive leadership has equipped me with the tools to approach pastoral challenges with both intellectual rigor and compassionate sensitivity. The adaptive leadership principles enabled me to cultivate a ministry environment that is more inclusive, supportive, and equipped to meet the evolving spiritual and emotional needs of my parish community
